GreedSum: Automatic Web-Page Text Summarizer
GreedSum is a free Chrome add-on that automatically summarizes the text of web pages. It highlights the most important sentences and allows users to select the highlighting color. With GreedSum, you can choose to summarize a given number of sentences or set a compression ratio to determine the length of the summary. The add-on also provides the option to save the summarized text as an HTML file.
The latest updates have fixed several issues. Now, the inclusion of too short sentences is avoided, ensuring that only meaningful content is highlighted. The text extraction from web pages has also been improved using the Readability module by Mozilla. Additionally, the sentence highlighting feature now works much better, providing a more accurate summary. The popup HTML design has been enhanced using JQuery and Bootstrap, making it more user-friendly. Lastly, a radio button control has been added to allow users to choose between summarizing by the number of sentences or the compression ratio.
